Curve spreads--a biometric from front-view gait video
نویسندگان
چکیده
We introduce the curve spread as an efficient descriptor of front-view gait of humans walking towards a camera. The curve spread is a compact two-dimensional representation of the time-variations of a moving body outline. Most gait biometrics employ features derived from side-view videos because limb swings are more pronounced from the side than from the front. However, side-view observations are often impractical and incompatible with the ability of humans to recognize others from front-view gait. Identification tests using cross correlation of curve spreads of 12 videos from 4 walking subjects, yielded 100% recognition rate. 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Gait Recognition using Time-of-Flight Sensor
This paper develops a biometric gait recognition system based on 3D video acquired by a Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor providing depth and intensity frames. A first step of the proposed gait analysis is the automatic extraction of the silhouette of the person via segmentation. The segmentation of the silhouette is performed on the depth frame which provide information which describes the distance ...
متن کاملOn a large sequence-based human gait database
Biometrics today include recognition by characteristic and by behaviour. Of these, face recognition is the most established with databases having evolved from small single shot single view databases, through multi-shot multi-view and on to current video-sequence databases. Results and potential of a new biometric are revealed primarily by the database on which new techniques are evaluated. Clea...
متن کاملView Invariant Gait Recognition
Recognition by gait is of particular interest since it is the biometric that is available at the lowest resolution, or when other biometrics are (intentionally) obscured. Gait as a biometric has now shown increasing recognition capability. There are many approaches and these show that recognition can achieve excellent performance on large databases. The majority of these approaches are planar 2...
متن کاملMultimodal Biometric Gait Database: A Comparison Study
In this paper we have developed a robust human identification scheme from low-resolution surveillance video footage. For establishing the human identity; we also carried out a comparative study with two multimodal biometric databases (UCMG and CASIA), two different gait databases with different complexities. For experimental validation of our scheme, we used several dimensionality reduction alg...
متن کاملDeepGait: A Learning Deep Convolutional Representation for View-Invariant Gait Recognition Using Joint Bayesian
Human gait, as a soft biometric, helps to recognize people through their walking. To further improve the recognition performance, we propose a novel video sensor-based gait representation, DeepGait, using deep convolutional features and introduce Joint Bayesian to model view variance. DeepGait is generated by using a pre-trained “very deep” network “D-Net” (VGG-D) without any fine-tuning. For n...
